Official representatives of IMC visited the Vitebsk State Medical University (VSMU) in the month of November 2016. Within their visit, IMC and Alfa ES team had an official meeting with the rector of the Vitebsk State Medical University. During this meeting, a lot of important questions were raised, especially about opening new International learning centers that are affiliated with program conducted by Vitebsk state medical university in countries such as UAE, Oman and in Sri Lanka, more specifically in cities such as Kandy and Jaffna. After a lengthy discussion, members on both parties successfully reached upon a mutual agreement on the above topic and decided that a Vitebsk State Medical University, International learning center will be opened in Kandy so that students who are interested in studying medicine at VSMU have an opportunity to start the pre-medical program in Kandy itself as it is quite far to the already placed center in Colombo. During this trip, IMC representatives also visited the state hospitals where students practice and familiarize themselves with the facilities and conditions of different medical establishments in Vitebsk. They also had an extensive dialogue with various professors regarding the fundamental differences between the teaching systems in Sri Lanka and Belarus. They concluded that the teaching system in Belarus additionally focuses on core values of discipline such as Punctuality and attendance which molds students in not just becoming good doctors but great doctors. Lastly, International Medical Campus also arranged a Get-together-Party for all the 1st year and 2nd year Sri Lankans studying at VSMU with the attendance of officials from the University and Alfa ES. It was a memorable night where all students enjoyed dinner with some karaoke as well as great music.
